High Voltage Capacitive Transformers and Coupling Capacitors

Capacitive voltage transformers isolate the measuring instruments, meters, relays, protections, etc., from the high voltage power circuit and provide a scaled replica of the voltage in the HV line.

They enable transmission of high frequency signals through the high voltage (HV) lines.

Coupling capacitors are only used for coupling high frequency communication signals, making them equivalent to the capacitive part of a Capacitive Voltage Transformer.

High Voltage Combined Transformers

Combined instrument transformers contain a current transformer and an inductive voltage transformer within the same body.

Thus they are used in the same applications as their respective independent transformers; they separate meters, counters, relays, etc., from the high voltage circuit, and provide a scaled replica of the current and voltage in the HV line.

Combined transformers are suitable for use in substations where space or installation costs make using independent Transformers difficult.

  • Ideal for installation at metering points due to their very high accuracy class, both in current and voltage.

High Voltage Current Transformers

Current transformers are designed to provide a scaled down replica of the current in the HV line and isolate the measuring instruments, meters, relays, etc., from the high voltage power circuit.

  • Current input to different types of protection relays.
  • Ideal for installation at metering points due to its very high accuracy.
  • Excellent frequency response; applicable for monitoring power quality and measuring harmonics.
  • Suitable for installation in AC filters in converter substations for HVDC projects.

High Voltage Inductive Voltage Transformers

Inductive voltage transformers are designed to provide a scaled down replica of the voltage in the HV line and isolate the measuring instruments, meters, relays, etc., from the high voltage power circuit.

Line Traps

Line Traps are used in power line communications to prevent undue loss of carrier signal power and to minimize interference from carrier signaling systems on adjacent transmission lines.

They present high impedance at the carrier frequency band (40 to 500 kHz) thus preventing signal power loss. In addition, the impedance at the power frequency (50 or 60 Hz) is negligible, in order to avoid interfering with the power transmission.

Optical Current Transformer SDO-OCT

ARTECHE’s SDO-OCT is a passive, modular optical current transformer that can be used for any voltage level. The device is based on three elements: an optical current transducer (SDO-ICT), the insulator and the merging unit (SDO MU).

SDO-ICT is a fully passive optical transducer that provides a digital measurement solution for metering and protection applications. The passive interferometric transducer can offer Cl 0.2 accuracy over an unlimited range of primary currents.

The SDO-ICT transducer can be mounted with different types of post-insulator that cover any insulation level that might be required. The post-type insulator uses solid insulation. There is no risk of violent failure modes and it is environmentally friendly.

Maintenance: There is no risk of insulator leakage (no oil or gas is used) and no maintenance is required.

The SDO-ICT can also be used for DC measurement.

Power Voltage Transformers

Power Voltage Transformers also known as Substation Service Voltage Transformers (SSVT) are used to supply Low Voltage power directly from a High Voltage line up to 550 kVThey offer all the benefits of a potential transformer with the applications of a distribution transformer.

Power Voltage Transformers (SSVT) are developed in both oil and SF6 insulation.

Their main application is the power supply of different type of subtations (switching, renewable and conventionals). They also assure the rural electrification, power supply of telecommunication towers in remote areas and temporary power supply when its needed.
